An in-depth program that visits the capital cities of every major civilization that existed in Turkey, with the exception of Eastern Turkey, this has been our flagship itinerary for over 30 years. It is for those who are interested in ancient history, archaeology and cultures of other lands. The itinerary follows a logical route, starting in Ankara with a visit to The Museum of Ancient Anatolian Civilizations for an orientation on what awaits the traveler in this land of many civilizations. Stops are made in Hattusas, capital of the Hittites, and Gordiom, capital of the Phryigans, before driving to Cappadocia and later on to Konya (capital of Anatolian Seljuck Empire), and then to Antalya, Pamukkale, Ephesus, Pergamum, Troy, Gallipoli, and Bursa (the first capital of the Ottoman Empire). The tour concludes in Istanbul, capital of Eastern Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, which presents not only the climax of the sightseeing and culinary experiences of the voyage but also the widest range of choices for shopping! This is a unique tour with many special features to give a first-hand understanding of Turkey and her people in a cross-section of authentic settings.
