The first statues of the Mother Goddess in Anatolia go back to 8,000 years ago. This tour is ideal for individuals and groups interested in women’s studies and the history of women in ancient and modern civilization, especially, the evolution that the concept of “woman” has undergone, from the early Mother Goddess to the present. Visits will include stops in Catalhoyuk, the city where the earliest examples of women statues come from and Hattusas home to ancient mother goddess statues called Kubaba and the Phrygians’ mother goddess called Kybele (which eventually became Cybele in Greek mythology). Meetings and seminars with local Turkish women and women’s organizations can also be arranged.
